MOSAIC, funded by the WES Mariam Assefa Fund, has released a groundbreaking report, available below, shedding light on the systemic barriers faced by International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in Canada. Despite their qualifications and expertise, many IMGs encounter significant hurdles in accessing residency training and medical licensure. This comprehensive report uncovers discriminatory policies and practices, many of which lack transparency and are compounded by the lack of disaggregated, standardized data.

The Myth of Canada (an important research about exclusion of Internationally Trained Physicians)

This report is based on a community-engaged research project that explores the experiences of Internationally Trained Physicians (ITPs) related to their exclusion within the medical licensure process. The report was published in 2023 by by Evelyn Encalada Grez, Paola Ardiles Gamboa, & Simran Purewal, two researchers at Simon Fraser University in BC, Canada. Please click below to read the report.
